From the crisp and colorful fall leaves to the picturesque country roads, Clarksville, Tennessee, is made for fall. Adding to the north Tennessee town’s appeal is its charming downtown, unique culture, and delicious cuisine. So whatever you’re looking to experience as the season begins to shift, Clarksville is the ultimate fall road trip destination.

Outdoor Adventure

The natural beauty found in Clarksville effortlessly draws locals and visitors alike outside. The area boasts waterways, rolling hills, and some of the best river sunsets you’ll find. Dunbar Cave State Park and Rotary Park offer wooded trails ideal for hiking or mountain biking, as does the Upland Trail, a hidden gem that connects to the scenic Cumberland Riverwalk. With the Cumberland River close by, fishing and kayaking are also popular pastimes in Clarksville. Other can’t miss outdoor adventures include rock climbing, disc golf, and golf too.

Seasonal Spirits

Clarksville’s culinary scene is on point, as is its bars and breweries. Over the last few years, the city has added a variety of breweries and distilleries. Clarksville boasts seven breweries, each unique as the next and all offering flavorful fall releases. The city is also home to three distilleries, so wherever you go in Clarksville, locally-made spirits are always on hand. Clarksville is even home to a winery, a family-run business that has been producing award-winning vintages for more than 30 years. The latest addition to the scene is the state’s first licensed meadery, Trazo Meadery, a family-owned business that’s focused on finding the perfect combination of honey, water, and yeast.

Fall Festivals

Clarksville is a city steeped in history, and much of that history is on full display throughout the fall thanks to its packed calendar of festivals. Riverfest is the city’s longest-running community festival. It draws upwards of 30,000 visitors to Clarksville each year, and this year it’s planned for September 9. The fun continues on to later in the month during the 7th Annual Oktoberfest. To be held September 22-24 at Beachaven Vineyards and Winery, Oktoberfest is the ultimate fall experience thanks to its wide array of beers, wines, German food and games, and even a live polka band. For those seeking to learn more about the area’s history, be sure to check out the Historic Lantern Tour at Historic Collinsville on October 13 and 14, where tales of the community’s past will be shared. One of the newest Clarksville festivals is Artsville. An annual festival that got its start just two years ago, Artsville celebrates all things art and features everything from 3D chalk art to mural and sculpture art.
