5 Must Eats on the Alabama Gulf Coast

The Alabama Gulf Coast is known for its culinary fare

Words by Sarah Deloach

If fresh and delicious seafood is what you’re looking for, everyone knows the Alabama Gulf Coast is the place to be. If you didn’t already know, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are not only known for their gorgeous beaches, but also a strong culinary scene. There are over 200 restaurants in the area, so it can be hard to find exactly what you’re looking for. Here, we give you five of our favorite mouth-watering options.

Flora-Bama Yacht Club
If driving isn’t what floats your boat, Flora-Bama Yacht Club allows you to beach your boat on the sand to experience the bar’s creative dishes, famous drinks, and live music. When combining the food with the friendly service and beautiful setting there isn’t much to complain about.

Safari Club
Located at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, this new restaurant has the most unique and exciting dining experience on the Gulf. The tapas and pizza are out of this world and the stunning dining room is the cherry on top. It is also Alabama’s first certified “Green Restaurant” and is a leader in conservation, recycling, and reducing their carbon footprint.

Sarah’s Homemade
Sometimes you just don’t feel like cooking at your beach condo. If takeout comfort food is what you're looking for, Sarah’s Homemade is the place to go. There you’ll find delicious Southern-style entrees, dips, and sides that always hit the spot.  Be sure to try their Chicken Florentine casserole and smoked tuna dip.

The Keg Lounge & Grill
The Keg has been a local favorite since the 80’s– known for their burgers, and no reservations required. Many say it is like stepping back in time, as it’s the oldest bar in Orange Beach. If you don’t want anything fancy but still want one of the best cheeseburgers of your life, make sure to stop by The Keg.

Lulu’s
Lucy Buffett’s Lulu’s is all about celebrating food and family while having a good time. Enjoying a “Pa-menna” Cheeseburger while watching the boats go by on the Intracoastal Waterway is always enjoyable.  Live music and good vibes make this place a vacation favorite. With games, an extensive gift shop, and a variety of delicious food (including gluten and dairy free options), there is something for everyone.
