Clarksville Should Be Your Next Adventure

Clarksville, Tennessee, might not be on your radar yet, but trust us—it should be. Just 40 minutes northwest of Nashville, this under-the-radar city is in its “if you know, you know” phase. Consider this your official heads-up: we know, and you’re going to want to know, too. With a population under 200,000, Clarksville has managed to hold onto its small-town charm while offering big-city energy.

It’s a city steeped in history, with streets that hold stories of the tobacco boom, riverfront trails that make you want to lace up your hiking boots, and a percolating creative scene. Add in a food and drink culture that’s quietly redefining Tennessee’s culinary game, and you’ve got a place that feels like your next big discovery.

Clarksville’s roots run deep. Back in the day, this city thrived on the tobacco trade. The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is a perfect example—what started as a post office during the tobacco boom is now a fascinating mix of art gallery, history museum, and hands-on fun for kids (or kids at heart).

But don’t let the history fool you into thinking Clarksville is stuck in the past. The future is visible in the colorful downtown murals, the eclectic galleries, and the Roxy Regional Theatre, where live performances and indie films share the stage. There’s an undeniable buzz here—everyone’s working on something cool, and you’re just lucky enough to catch a glimpse.

Clarksville’s dining scene is also having a moment, so you’ll want to bring your appetite. From farm-to-table restaurants to craft breweries pouring pints full of personality, every bite and sip feels like a love letter to the region. Pair that with the friendly atmosphere you’ll find at every table, and it’s easy to see why this city has been winning hearts.

Clarksville isn’t just a place to visit—it’s a place to experience. Whether you’re wandering the trails at Dunbar Cave State Park, exploring a museum packed with history, or toasting the day’s adventures with a local brew, you’ll find yourself falling hard for its easy charm. And the best part? You’re getting in before the secret’s out. Let’s just say, you’re about to plan one unforgettable trip.

Mike and Leticia Do Clarksville

Mike: As Nashville has grown, it’s helped leapfrog people into these smaller towns. Within an hour of the city, you’re gonna find some of the most incredible small towns, like Clarksville.

Leticia: Clarksville is larger, but still has a small town, Main Street vibe next to the river. It’s a city that will survive and has survived, and it’s still up and coming.

Leticia’s Tip: Start with the most historic places. Clarksville has some very historic buildings—mid 1800s or so. And when you’re at the oldest places, wherever they tell you to go to dinner, go there. Whatever they tell you that you have to see, go there.

(We know plenty of historic buildings to stay, play and eat in… just keep reading!)
