Just 90 miles north of Atlanta on the Georgia-Tennessee-North Carolina line is Blue Ridge, a quiet mountain town boasting stunning views, outdoor adventure, serene surroundings, and a thriving culture loaded with activities and entertainment for the whole family—not to mention wineries, breweries, and a wide range of delicious eateries. This bustling mountain town is an ideal destination any time of year, but it’s certainly the coolest place to be this summer.

Eat Outdoors

Blue Ridge is nothing if not adventurous, and that carries over into the town’s many outdoor restaurants and taverns. There are eateries with incredible outdoor patios like The Black Sheep—the place to be for Sunday Brunch thanks to its delicious food and live music—or ROE Blue Ridge, which sits in the heart of downtown and offers up the ideal courtyard for enjoying a meal with the family or a cocktail with friends. The outdoor eateries don’t end there—Fightingtown Tavern, The Vine & Eatery, and The Dogwood all feature outdoor spaces where diners can enjoy the views along with the menu. For those wanting to be a little closer to the water, there’s also Toccoa Riverside Restaurant, Twisted Tomato, and The Boat Dock Bar & Grill.

Play Outdoors

Blue Ridge is known for nature, particularly its cool mountain waters, and there are so many ways to spend the day outdoors. Toccoa River, along with Ocoee River to the north, are the go-to mountain rivers for all things tubing, paddling, and whitewater rafting. Lake Blue Ridge also offers a plethora of water-focused activities, including watercraft and paddle boards to rent. Wherever you go in Blue Ridge to experience a day on the water, be sure to pack a picnic!

Shop Outdoors

Outdoor adventure may be the top draw for Blue Ridge, but a visit here isn’t complete without a stroll down Main Street to discover the town’s many unique shops. The town is home to a number of specialty shops, boutiques, and galleries. In fact, Blue Ridge has been named one of the “Top Ten Towns for Craft Lovers” in the country.
