Editor's Letter: Wanderlust 2021
Words by Shelly Brown
This season of wanderlust is welcomed according to our new normal, but welcomed none the less. Although we may still feel a little wobbly after removing our pandemic training wheels, the southern sun is out and we can still enjoy the ride. Our love of home has only grown deeper over the last year, inside and out. Closets and guest rooms have become offices, and outdoor spaces have become our social sanctuaries. Our new Home section is a team favorite--and it's getting more exciting. Good Grit's first ever Show Home will be ready to share in 2021, and working on it has given us a greater appreciation for the design talent coming out of the South. One of our favorite upcoming home design brands, St. Frank brings the perfect amount of summer into your home with their artisan surfboards and travel savvy prints. Even though you might not be able to go on an exotic trip, you sure can make a room look like you did.
Our 2021 Wanderlust issue is a page by page reminder of the opportunities there are to fall in love with our beloved South. To brag on just a few, Lakeland Howe reminds us that there really is no place like home, but the feeling can be captured by choosing to love where you are. Our very own cover family, The McGuffies, (yes they are a real life family, not models) teach us the art of building generational health, and focusing on priorities instead of fads. I hope that this summer you follow the lead of the joyful kids that grace our cover, and go! Go find joy in what you already have, go explore the spaces that bring out your creativity, go learn from the people with hearts so big that they've dedicated their lives to others. It's all right in your backyard.
