Mississippi: A State Made for Wanderers

Coastal Ridge Farm

During blooming season, there’s perhaps no spot more beautiful in all of Mississippi than Coastal Ridge Farm. A flower farm situated in Picayune, Mississippi, Coastal Ridge Farm is home to seasonal flower fields featuring a plethora of varieties. Sunflowers, zinnias, poppies, daisies, and so many more can often be found blooming—depending on the month—and there’s almost always a steady progression of blooms each week. With one admission price, visitors can pick their own flowers to take home. The flower farm is also a popular spot for scheduling a professional photographer to take a few family photos. 

Sunken Trace

The Natchez Trace Parkway stretches 444 miles from Natchez, Mississippi, to Nashville, Tennessee, commemorating the historic Natchez Trace, a natural corridor that dates back centuries. There are several spots along the parkway where visitors can see the original Trace, which was created and used by Native Americans for many years before the arrival of Europeans. One of its most popular spots to check out is Sunken Trace, a .3-mile trail that’s located at milepost 41.5 on the Natchez Trace Parkway in the Port Gibson area. At Sunken Trace, it’s possible to walk around the eroded portion of the original Trace to take in the history and scenic beauty of the tree canopy.
