1. When did you realize the power of Instagram?

In 2014 I really took an interest in following bloggers and thought what a fun idea it would be to join in! In 2015 I started my blog and Instagram, and I was so shocked at the interest people had in my wardrobe and travels!

2. How do you manage to stay feeling connected with your followers as your account grows?

I really strive to respond to comments from followers daily! I also answer as many direct messages as I can each day from individuals. I believe it is so important to stay connected to my followers, because they are the reason I am able to do what I do each day, and I am so grateful for that!

3. How do you separate your work and your downtime?

This is so hard—I think mostly because social media for the majority of the world is what they do on their downtime. For me, I have to mentally make an effort to put down my phone in the evenings even for just an hour and realize I need that time to recharge. Some days I am successful with that and others I am not. It is a daily struggle, but one I hope to really master in 2019!

4. What do you do to disconnect?

I spend quality time with my son and husband! We love going out to eat or enjoying a quiet evening at home just the three of us. It really helps me to shift my perspective to what is most important in life!

5. This industry didn't exist a few years ago. What did you see yourself doing before?

Prior to blogging I was working in a family-owned insurance agency as an account manager. I loved working with people and having co-workers, but I always knew I wanted to do something on my own in fashion or beauty—makeup is my true passion. I think I maybe would have opened up a clothing boutique had I not started blogging.

6. Brayden is such a little cutie! How did your work change once he joined your family?

Brayden is the light to my world, and my new number one priority! Prior to Brayden I pretty much spent every ounce of energy and time building and creating Make Today a Hollyday. I got to travel and meet some amazing people, but now he is my focus and I wouldn't have it any other way! I’m not able to commit quite as much time to the blog and social, but for now I blog as often as I am able, which I believe also pushes me to have more meaningful content!

7. What is the most challenging part of your job?

Balancing family, working from home, and getting the job done! Working from home and being a stay-at-home mom is a dream, and I do not for once take it for granted. It is however hard to separate and organize time when your day revolves around an infant, so life is much more planned out now than it was in the past.

8. What are some of your favorite things to do in North Carolina—a few favorite restaurants, shops, and things to do?

Activities: Emerald Isle and Wilmington for the beach and Asheville for the mountains

Food: Angus Barn and Winston's Grille

Shopping: North Hills Shopping Center and Cameron Village
