Whether in the mountains or on the water, cabins in Blue Ridge are the perfect backdrop for your family summer camp. If you like to camp, there are also great options for RV or tent camping.

What to Do

Have some fun on the water

Go kayaking or tubing on the Toccoa River or whitewater rafting on the nearby Ocoee River (kids over 12).  Or rent a pontoon, kayak or paddle board for a lake day on Lake Blue Ridge. Morganton Point Recreation Area has kayak and paddleboard rentals and a pebble beach for swimming. Take a picnic to Tammen Park on the river in Blue Ridge or Horseshoe Bend Park in McCaysville and fish, play on the playground or skip some rocks in the river.  Horseshoe Bend also has a new dog park.

More outdoor adventures

Take a family hike to a local waterfall, like Long Creek Falls on the Appalachian Trail, or other waterfalls nearby.  Closer to town, hike the Aska or Benton MacKaye Trails. Go ziplining at Zipline Canopy Tours or the Adventure Park in Blue Ridge. Horseback ride on mountain trails at one of nearby several riding stables.

Fun family attractions

Meet Sasquatch at Expedition Big Foot Museum! Take a tractor tour at Mercier Orchards. Go gem mining or fishing at the Lilly Pad Village. Ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway in historic train cars to the little river town of McCaysville. Have a family movie night at The Swan Drive-in.

Groceries for the Cabin or the Camp

Be sure to pick up some apple cider doughnuts and homemade fried pies at Mercier Orchards, along with fresh fruit and veggies. Try the Rum Cake Lady for take out Cubans or rum cake. The Pasta Shoppe in downtown Blue Ridge carries a large selection of pasta and “Ralph’s Special Sauce.” Don’t miss the Sweet Shoppe of the South’s award-winning cupcakes from Cupcake Wars.
