Beth McCord, known as on @yourenneagramcoach by 259k of you on Instagram, is sharing her insight with Good Grit on how each enneagram type can best achieve their goals in 2021. This isn’t just about “new year’s resolutions.” This is about knowing yourself better so you can overcome the false messages holding you back from reaching your dreams.

Type 1: They strive to create the right goals

  • False messages:
    • It’s not okay to make mistakes.
    • They must always strive for balance, integrity, and being good.
  • Overcoming their false messages:
    • They must accept that they will never be able to make or keep their goals perfectly.
    • To experience serenity, they must embrace life as it is with its imperfections. This allows them to bring wisdom, freedom, and flexibility to their goal setting.

Type 2: They strive to create goals that serve and nurture others

  • False messages:
    • It’s not okay to have their own needs and goals.
    • They will be rejected if they’re not constantly selfless.
  • Overcoming their false messages:
    • They must accept that obtaining people’s appreciation and approval will never prove their true worth.

Type 3: They strive to create goals that are efficient and ensure a successful outcome

  • False messages:
    • Others will devalue them and deem them as worthless if they don’t achieve their goals.
    • It’s not okay to have their own feelings and true identity revealed.

  • False messages:
    • They will never be understood or valued for being their unique self.
    • They must work through their emotions alone.
